ARMSTRONG’S QUIKSTIXPROVIDES REMODELERS WITH SUPERIOR FRAMING SOLUTION

LANCASTER, Pa. (September 10, 2008) — Armstrong Building Products introduces QuikStix™ framing system for walls, ceilings and soffits – a line of steel framing products, for residential or light commercial applications, that is simpler and easier to install than traditional framing methods.

QuikStix is quick and easy to install, dramatically lessening time spent involved in the installation process. QuikStix’s ‘Turn n Click’ feature aids dimensional stability by minimizing measuring, simplifying framing tee layout and making the application of drywall to framing easier than ever. Ideal for basement settings, QuikStix complements Armstrong’s line of ceiling products and is designed to allow any professional installer or skilled DIYer to frame a wall, ceiling or soffit in a residential or light commercial installation.

Unlike typical wood framing methods, the steel components used in QuikStix do not support mold or mildew, are not combustible and will not warp or twist. QuikStix is perfect for any green-building enthusiast, as it is not only made from 30 percent recycled steel, but will also last as long as the structure in which it is installed, creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly home.

WALLS
With an indexed channel mold at the top and bottom of the wall liner, QuikStix for walls has pre-measured locking tabs that eliminate the need for screws, measurements and marking tee locations. The 8’ and 10’ framing tees, complete with electrical knockouts, simplify framing of the vertical wall. QuikStix for walls also has a clip system to add rigidity between the framing and the foundation and exterior walls.

CEILINGS
Like QuikStix for walls, QuikStix for ceilings has pre-measured locking tabs, eliminating the need for screws, measurements or marking tee locations. QuikStix for ceilings allow for straighter and smoother ceilings with its hanging clip system, and its Lock Pocket Mains carry the ceiling load. To reduce the amount of material used, 6’ ShortSpan tees are used to offer a greater span than traditional tees or alternate support systems.

SOFFITS
QuikStix for soffits allows installers to frame interior soffits faster and easier. Its Locking Angle Mold simplifies soffit layout, and its knurled face provides easier screw installation. The pre-engineered tees have knockouts at 6” centers that simplify cutting and bending, and can be easily adjusted create 90° angles or a range of “off angles.” Soffits can be used to frame around ducts, beams, plumbing or other obstacles in the space, or to simply create a different ceiling height.

QuikStix is available exclusively at select Lowe’s locations throughout the United States.  For more information, visit www.armstrong.com.
